More split ruins flow/punch line
-
I just started on Halloween and I’m having a problem with “more”. These are stories are for my family and I’m trying to use More for a dramatic affect leading to the real life punch line. When I use More, though, it jumps to a page starting even farther down the story than where the main page left off. It totally ruins the flow of the story, actually giving away the ending before they’ve even read the middle. Is there another markup that I can use to jump them to the top of the whole post? Do I just need brush up on HTML? (One week here people.)
If you need examples, please hit my home page, http://networkgoddess.wordpress.com to see the worst offenders:
don’t drink and drive (1st page)
fear the females–in our family at least (2nd page)
trick or treat…or not (3rd page)As you can see, the More markup is horrible for me. Thanks in advance.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s a known issue, and you can’t do anything unless WP decides to correct it. The more tag links to the right point on the post, but the line you should be seeing is hidden by the grey admin bar.

You might try using the next page tag so the later part of your story opens in a new page.

Above my pay-grade but what about using the excerpt function? Put the first bit in the excerpt box then would the excerpt link to the whole post?

(Tess: that’s Mike, not Sergio!)
The excerpt is the first thing I would suggest, but on the main page it only works in a few themes (not including the one the OP is using):
