More tag
-
I want to lengthen the excerpts of posts that appear on my front page and I edited one post and placed the “more” tag further down in the text than what was displaying under the default code and nothing happened. I want to decrease the amount of white space on my front page.
Also how do I get rid of the tags that appear on my front page under the images such as date, written by, “comment” etc.?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

a) To get rid of the post meta, add this:
.content-bar .post .box .post_meta, .content-bar .page .post_meta { display: none; } .content-bar .post .box, .content-bar .page .box { border: 0 none; }b) After you do this there will be much less space. And there wouldn’t be so much space anyway if you hadn’t decreased the overall font sizes so much.
c) The read-more tag works on themes that normally display full posts on dynamic pages, not on themes that display excerpts. Auto excerpts display a fixed number of words, and this isn’t a CSS issue. If you want more text you can replace the automatically produced excerpts with custom excerpts, by entering text in the Excerpt module of the post editor.

Thank you. Where is the excerpt module? I am really a beginner so please tell me exactly where to go on the dashboard. I went into my post editor and didn’t see anything called excerpt module. Many thanks!!

The excerpt module is not active on the editor page by default. To activate it, go to the editor page, click on screen options at top right and activate it. It will then appear down below the text area.
