more tag
-
Hi,
I don’t understand why the Read more button is only applied on one of my articles. I did everything perfectly. Can you help me? Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Note that “the more tag” is not a theme-specific feature. There is also no global setting for it.
Also, note that the setting here > Settings > Reading is only for the RSS Feed summary and does not affect the posts.
If you want to display only excerpts on the front page of the blog followed by read more links, you can insert “the more tag” into each post prior to publication.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/The read more tag can be inserted once only into any post to change the front page or main page for posts display from full post to an excerpt. The split in the text does not display to you in preview mode but it will be there after the post is published.
Alternatively, you can switch to using a theme that automatically displays front page excerpts. This is a list of only SOME active themes on WordPress.com that use the excerpt instead of full post content. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/theme-with-automatic-excerpts?replies=13#post-1396410

Hi there,
You have all your posts set to the gallery post format. In that format it won’t show the Read More button. If you set the posts to the standard format instead the button will appear. I’ve fixed the most recent one for you already.
Note that “the more tag” is not a theme-specific feature. There is also no global setting for it.
Some themes now do have a setting for this. You can enable front page excerpts under Content Options in the Customizer which will create automatic excerpts for all posts, even if it is not originally a feature of the theme.
Not all themes support Content Options yet, but we’re gradually rolling it out and all new themes should have it when they’re released.
Nucleare, which is the theme on this site, does not support that feature yet.

Hi!
Thank you for your help! It works perfectly.
Can you help me with something else? I applied a category for my articles but the posts keep on appearing on the home page. I would like them to appear in their own pages. Is that possible? -
Your site’s home page shows the main feed, i.e. all your posts, regardless of category. You can use category pages to have posts from specific categories show on their own pages, but you can’t prevent them from showing in the main feed as well.
You can see how to set up category pages here:
-
I chose a category for each post, but they are not shown on their own pages. In the link you posted, I have to add an item in my menu, but the item already exists and I don’t want to add another item. How can I do otherwise?
