More tag not working

  Im havin trouble findin a solution for this in other threads so I had to make my own.

  im tryin to divide content, the more tag will work but i want to customize what it says. When I use the <!–More–> code with custom text in it like other threads say to do..it just shows the text and not make a link. I cant figure out the excerpt part either for the life of me.

  Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

  If it matters im using the Black Letterhead theme
