Are you sure you can achieve that through CSS editing? I’m not. WordPress.com has provided a Preview function so you can try before you buy without your visitors seeing a different display. It’s here . Appearance > Edit CSS

Even if it is possible vis CSS editing then you have to have CSS experience and a clear knowledge of how CSS and HTML operate and purchase the upgrade an work on your own. there is no official Staff support for the CSS editing upgrade. There are only 2 Volunteers who help from time to time.

Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-css/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/editing-css/

If you do purchase the upgrade be sure to read this article before starting your editing > http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/

Also note that the reason you do not find the vodpod widget code in the Coraline CSS is because it’s not a widget provided by that theme at all. It’s available to all wordpress.com users. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/vodpod-videos-widget/

A problem you will run into is the the code for the vodpod video supported by wordpress.com is in java script code, and the CSS customizable elements for selfhosted sites also require using Javascript for the videos.

As far as I know, the CSS upgrade does not allow you any extra use of adding script, like the Vodpod code into the stylesheets.
This would mean the only option are the Vodpod widgets that WordPress.com allows: 1,4 or 5 video ones.

I tagged this “vodpod”… sometimes the vodpod crew answers questions in the forum if they can,

    Hi timethief
Many thanks for your reply. Yes, I see that you’re right that the vodpod widget is not specific to the Coraline theme so won’t appear in the CSS. Whilst I have a rudimentary knowledge of HTML and CSS, which allows me to alter or insert various elements, my knowledge doesn’t extend much beyond that. Not to worry, as I’m sure I’ll learn as I go along. Talking of which, it’s my belief that when we’re in need of a particular teacher then one comes along at the right time. Having briefly skimmed through your blog ‘one cool site’, I’m so impressed with your knowledge of wordpress and its elements, and I’m certain I’ll find it so helpful and useful. But even more specifically than this, I discovered your beautiful blog ‘this time – this space’. I think you might be of help when I actually get round to writing mine, which is based very much upon a similar set of experiences and principles to your own, through health issues and spiritual values. Currently, my energy levels plummet so often that it takes some time to actually write things down, let alone creating the blog page in the first place lol.
Thanks once again for your help and prompt reply.

    Hi dlager
Many thanks for your reply too, and thanks for tagging the post. I don’t think I’ll be upgrading the vodpod, especially in light of what you’ve said. From reading your wonderful blog I see another potential teacher before me, specifically around poetry, which I love to write too.
    Thanks for your help.

CSS is a styling document for the browser to use in rendering the web pages. It can’t be used to change or add functionality.

Thanks sacredpath, yes, I can see now that it’s used just for styling. I’ll get the hang of this soon with your help and all the other useful comments here, and I’m much obliged for your response. I’ll just keep my page simple and develop and learn as I go along. Having read parts of your brilliant blog I can see that I’ll learn a lot from your technical knowledge and have already picked up some useful tips, so thanks. I see we also share similarities in our spiritual and shamanic beliefs. It is exactly like arriving home, as you say. And just last week I bought a book called Spirit Medicine by Hank Wesselman and Jill Kuykendall!
By meeting you all here, already I am beginning to meet like-minded people without even having written or shared a word with you. And so, it’s as though I’ve been guided here and found my home. One day soon I hope, I shall share some of my experience/stories with you and become a follower on your individual blogs. And btw sacredpath, you are so right in that dogs have masters and cats have staff. We have one of each and you should see how that dog runs around after that cat lol.

    Thanks to you all here.
