I don’t think it would work, there’s already “Recent Comments” added to the widget. What I want is another widget only for most commented entry so people can see why that post has the most comments.

why couldn’t it work? just add the link to your most commented post and label the text widget most commented post(s). the wp ppl are probably reading this and taking into account, but it might be a while before they add that, if they do. you could send in a feedback as well so they’ll be sure to know what’s in demand

Knoizki, sulz is talking about manually creating a link to the most commented post on your site. Normally this would be fine for most of us but…
Sulz, take a look at his or her site. Last two articles posted have 17 and 21 comments a piece. I don’t think a manual tag would work in this case as he or she is getting comments by the ton. (Must be nice…)

drmike: why not? i’m under the impression the widget he wanted wp to create is for most commented post, which would just show the post title and not the comments as well? i’ve seen this done in a blogspot website but i think it was done by the blogger himself, so that’s what i imagine when knoizki said that

Agreed, but keeping track of which one was the most commented comment would be an issue with a site like his. I could tell you in two seconds which one of my posts had the most comments but I doubt that he would be able to since he gets a large number of comments.

point taken. if one is willing to make the effort… knoizki i’ve just put up a highlighted posts widget in my blog if you want to know what’s it like to do the same for yours (except it’s for most commented obviously). however it does look a bit odd because of the text widget square box, so on second thoughts i wouldn’t mind such a widget as you suggested. =) but i think it should be a highlighted post widget rather than most comments, that way other users can put whatever post they like in the widget and in your case, the most commented would be a highlighted post.

Greatly appreciate the feedback. I was actually pointing out a “plugin” for the Most Commented Post to have it added into the widgets in the sidebar. However, I can also manually put my highest commented post with the number of comments to the sidebar but do you think it can be such a pain to add a trackback link manually in the sidebar? Anyway I just thought this is a great plugin (very old one I think) but thank you for the great input.
