most of my posts suddenly vanished

I was doing some editing of my dashboard when most of my posts suddenly vanished, and my blog home page just has some old posts on it. Please advise urgently . thankyou Paul Goldfinger of http://www.blogfinger.wordpress.com

The posts are moved to trash but not completely deleted yet. You can still restore the posts.
We checked to make sure that we are not deleting your posts. It looks like the posts are being deleted by the user “blogfinger”. If you did not take this action, someone may be logging in as your username and making changes. Please change your account password immediately. (Make sure your email associated with this account is using a secure password as well)

I am that user and I was deleting specific posts at that time on my dashboard. I dont know what I did wrong to result in massive deletion. Please tell me how to restore my blog. thank you

We did have a problem a few years ago where someone installed some script on her computer that “cleaned up code” and it went through and ate most of her blog. Have you installed anything like that recently?

It is now clear to me that while I was deleting specific posts on my dashboard, somehow I earmarked most of my posts without wanting to do so. I was deleting by checking off the ones to delete and then using the bulk delete button. But I don’t know how many posts got checked when I did not knowingly check them for deletion. What am I missing? thanks Paul
ps I have been restoring those posts that were earmarked for deletion, and I am grateful for that advice. I will review the link above.
