Motif full-width page template

I installed this theme (http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/motif/) because it stated there would be no sidebar, however I still have a sidebar on my website. The preview of theme shows one large main image but I can’t get my website to look like that for some reason.

I’m brand new to WordPress so I’m not sure how to remove the sidebar. I removed all the widgets from the main sidebar but then elements such as “Site Admin” appear.

I thought all I needed to do was install the theme, is there something obvious I’m missing here?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You need to choose the appropriate “Page Template” to get the look of the demo.

The home page shown of the demo is a static one. Create a page (Pages > Add New) and under “Page Attributes” (on the right side) choose the “Front Page” template. Once this page has been published go to Settings > Reading > Front page displays > A static page > Front Page and select this newly created page from the dropdown.
