Motif Theme

Did the Motif theme change….is supported a full header and now it only displays a smaller logo
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Here’s what it says from the theme’s Showcase page:
Custom Header
Motif supports a custom header image that you can use to upload your own logo. You can choose to display the header text or hide it.To upload your image, go to Appearance → Header. The maximum size of the image is 320 x 110 pixels.
Perhaps you’re thinking of the Featured Image on homepage instead? Read more here: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/motif/

As of yesterday morning the website I used the Motif Theme on had a full header that spanned the top of the menu bar. I went to update the logo with cleaner one that I received from the client and now it will only upload in the 320 x 110 format.
The weird thing is that I created site using the theme, did a screen capture (wish I could upload it) and kept Motif as the current theme to send for review to the client (who of course loved that one above the others I had taken screen shots of. This week there were several people who accessed the site in the decision making process. It was not until I updated the logo….
Anyone have an idea why it would have done that

I’ve switched my test site to Motif and no where do I find the ability to upload a full width header that rests above the navigation bar.
Please do upload to your site’s Media Library the screen capture you describe and I will tag this for Staff assistance.
Again, we’re talking about balancedpt.wordpress.com, correct?
-
yes I am talking about that website. It seems I found a few forum discussions about being able to customize the header in CSS, but I do not have the upgrade. I will upload the screen capture for review
-
It looks like you’ve really been struggling with this site design. Sorry about that!
The Motif theme doesn’t provide for a full-width header image, but many of our other themes do. If you were able to get it to work before, I’m not sure how! :)
Alternately you can purchase the Custom Design upgrade to modify your header area to allow for a full-width header.
For more information on the Motif theme, see:

@jackiedana-for clarification, could you take a look at the screenshot the OP mentioned?
-
@justjennifer – I did. It looked like maybe he was able to get the header to show up, but I’m not sure how. :)

Hello , i’m little busy with Motif theme while also trying to custom it also i stuck when header image does not align=center using Footer.php through the editor writing the logical code after the <img src=”<?php header_image(); ?>” .
Here is the code ( <div class=”site-branding”>
<?php if ( get_header_image() ) : ?>
<div class=”site-image”>
” title=”<?php echo esc_attr( get_bloginfo( ‘name’, ‘display’ ) ); ?>” rel=”home” class=”header-image-link”>
<img src=”<?php header_image(); ?>” align=center”<?php echo get_custom_header()->align; ?>” width=”<?php echo get_custom_header()->width; ?>” height=”<?php echo get_custom_header()->height; ?>” alt=”” />
</div><!– .header-image –>
<?php endif; ?><h1 class=”site-title”>” title=”<?php echo esc_attr( get_bloginfo( ‘name’, ‘display’ ) ); ?>” rel=”home”><?php bloginfo( ‘name’ ); ?></h1>
<?php if ( ” != get_bloginfo( ‘description’ ) ) : ?>
<h2 class=”site-description”><?php bloginfo( ‘description’ ); ?></h2>
<?php endif; ?>
</div><!– .site-branding –> )I’m also not so sure with Motif how to increase the vertical margin between the top and the menu while the header still on sight at 320 x 110 pixels , it seem’s not to respond in such changes.

@my8hs
Why are you posting off topic into this thread?
This is not the CSS Forum.
Provided you are referring to a free hosted WordPress.COm blog and you have purchased a custom design upgrade for it then click this link and post into the CSS Forum please. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform Don`t forget to post the blog URL when you do that. -
timethief is not my fault is wordpress hard for navigation when using it maybe, ok thank’s & bye.

@jackiedana, I guess “how was I able to do that” was my question as well. It was that way for about 4 days and being viewed by my client during their design decision process. I am frustrated because the screen capture is the design the want, which at the time I did it was free and now I have to turn around and tell them it will cost an annual fee to keep it….I realize that is was a fluke, but seems like bait and switch to them.
May want to check into the time frame and see if something was going on that would have allowed that. I realize it is a newer theme, so I guess it is just buggy.

Hi, I’ve been working with the Motif theme and things are coming along great, thanks, I love it. However, I have a few questions. I’m not sure if this is the right place to pose them. I’m not sure how to start a new “thread” re: Motif theme issues. Thanks in advance!
-
@balancedpt, sorry for the confusion with that theme. If you need help finding a different one, please let me know.
@bonniebyoga, for general theme questions, you can create a new support thread here:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/support#postformIf you have questions about customizing your theme with the Custom Design upgrade, use this link instead:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postformIn both cases, in the “tags” section on the right, add the tag “Motif”.

By the way, I had the same issue as the original poster–at first, I was able to upload a full-sized header to the theme and after I tried changing the image, it would only let me upload a 320 x 110 image. It’s really too bad–and a bit misleading, too. Fixing this bug would help future WordPressers, I’m sure.

Sorry for the confusion here. The Motif theme supports a maximum header image of 320 x 110 pixels, which is designed for a logo.

If you want a full-width header, you might check out some of our other themes, including Twenty Eleven:
