Motion Theme, Font and Chrome

I just recently switched to the Motion theme and I am having readability issues with the font and Google Chrome. Specifically, I find it very hard on the eyes in Chrome (the font is quite thin), while in Firefox and others it’s very legible and thick. I believe it’s a browser issue in how Chrome renders the font:
font-family: ‘Lucida Grande’, ‘Lucida Sans Unicode’, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
It can be seen here: http://epigraphd.wordpress.com/ but it should be present on all Motion-based blogs. I find its far too hard on the eyes to leave it. Any suggestions here? Are other Chrome users noticing the same thing with the Motion theme? Is it just me that finds it hard to read? Thanks in advance!

Yeah, the problem is browser rendering. Do you have the CSS upgrade? It looks like you might.

Unfortunately not and at this point I’m not likely to get it. I may just switch themes (though I really like every else about Motion). Thanks for the reply!

You can try this in the CSS preview (might have to force refresh the preview since it has been finicky lately. Put Arial and Helvetica first in the list of fonts. Arial has a wider stroke than Lucida fonts.

Thanks again for the reply! I gave that a shot and didn’t notice any change (even if it had worked though, I’m note likely to shell out for the upgrade to fix the font). It’s a shame that Motion and Chrome aren’t fully compatible

The issue is with Chrome and how it renders. At some point perhaps they will change it, but it is what it is for now. There are quite a number of things I’m not impressed with on Chrome. I keep a copy of it around for testing purposes, but never use it as a “browser.”
The font stroke rendering will be an issue on all fonts in Chrome, and on all themes, but on themes with more contrast between the background and the font color, it won’t be as noticeable. Firefox on Windows used to render fonts thin back during version 2.x, but it is much better with 3.x.
