Move a comment to another post?
-
I am a new blogger, and apparently my readers are even newer to blogs because the few comments I’ve gotten so far are not on the posts they relate to. I want the comments on there, but I want them to be attached to the corresponding post. Is there a way to move them?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This happens to me a lot and I don’t think it’s necessarily because people leaving comments are new to blogs. I think it may be more a function of the place where it says “leave a comment” on my particular theme. I am wondering if there’s a way to have a “leave a comment” tab at the bottom of the posts. I think it confuses people that if they want to comment on a particular post, after reading it, they’ve got to scroll back to the top of the post to click on “leave a comment” and I think that’s why they end up commenting on the wrong post. Any advice on whether I can somehow change where the comment tab is? My site is: http://italiandreams.wordpress.com

You have two choices one is free and one is paid. You can choose to switch to a theme that has the comment link at the top of the post beneath the title – free of charge. If you have CSS editing experience, you can get the paid custom CSS upgrade and renew it annually. It will allow you to stylize the appearance of themes you find here > Appearance > Themes, but it does not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the underlying template. It does not allow you to remove footer links to the theme designer or to wordpress.com. Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM.Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.
If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

thanks so much for your reply. I don’t have the experience you mention. So I if I switch to a new theme, how much funkiness does that create with my banner, my posts with photos, etc? Does it make lots of things go wonky and create a ton of work for me? Are you familiar enough with this to tell me what Theme would be super similar to mine but have the comment tab at the bottom of posts? I really don’t want to a change of theme to create a lot of trouble/work for me so I wish there was a way within themes to change things like that. But perhaps I’ll be presently surprised and you’ll say that changing themes won’t create any issues at all and all my posts will still look the same as well as my banner, etc.
??
Thank you so much for your help! -
I know the Coraline theme does display a comment link under the blog post title. I’m not aware of the other themes that display a comments link at the top and I don’t have the time or inclination to test over 100 themes.
Changing themes is not difficult. You can use the search utility and Feature Filters in your Dashboard > Appearance > Browse Themes > Feature Filters to locate themes of interest to you. (A-Z, Popular, Features)
Each theme has a thumbshot and a features summary description. You can browse and when you find one of interest you can click “Preview”. When you are ready to make your selection you can click “Activate”.
All themes are widget equipped. Many customizable headers and a few have special features. If your new theme is not the same size as the old one then the posts/page area will be different and the width of the sidebars will be different. if the header image is not the same size on the old theme as it is on the new one your will have to create a new image, optimize it, presize it to fit and upload it.
Your wisgets currently in use on the theme you have now will migrate into the Inactive widgets box here > Appearance > Themes. The new theme will have a default sidebar display of fake widgets which you can over-ride as they aren’t actually widgets. You simply place the widgets you used before found in the Inactive Widgets box into the sidebar or bottom footer box one at a time and save and close them.
