Move a seconday site away to be stand alone from its primary site

Hi there! This is my prob. jewishinfonews.wordpress.com is my primary site and in its group it has cjnonlineca.wordpress.com. I want to move cjnonline to a stand alone site, separate from jewishinfonews without losing any content. What is the process for doing this, if it can actually be done? Thanks so much! -Alan

Hi there Alan, I’m not entirely sure I understand. jewishinfonews.wordpress.com and cjnonlineca.wordpress.com are already separate websites (different addresses=different sites).

Are you trying to transfer cjnonlineca.wordpress.com to a different WordPress.com username account? If so, this support guide explains how you can do that: https://wordpress.com/support/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/

If you meant something else, please post back here with more details.

  • Just adding, if you don’t have another account yet, log out of this account, and then create a new username via https://wordpress.com/start/account/user/

Once you’ve done that, log back in as jewishinfonews, and you’ll be able to transfer ownership to the new username you created.

    Morning Kokkieh!
I did exactly what you told me, however none of my content was transferred to my new site from: cjnonlineca >>> cjnonlinenews.
What on earth do I do now?
    Many thanks!
    Alan

  • Hi Alan – It sounds like your goal now is to move the content which appears on cjnonlineca.wordpress.com over to cjnonlinenews.wordpress.com. Is that correct?
