move blog to my own domain

BUT!!! – I don’t want to become part of the WordPress.org lot: I wish to remain within screaming distance of Panos, and kraftbj, and raincoaster, and eurello, and timethief, and thesacredpath, and simplydesign, and … and bloody EVERYONE!
So: I have my own domain name, purchased from the Sydney company I get ’em from, and it is precisely the same as this but for the ‘wordpress’ bit in the middle. Surpriiise! :-)
Would the first victim to read this please instruct me on every step I must take in order to achieve this my latest goal, please? – including, of course, the business of redirecting my bedraggled team of followers?
    I thank you.
    I think.

Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually.

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

I reckon I can cover that, even on the age pension. [grin]
And it’ll be worth it – anything will, to reduce the amazing length of my current URL!
I shall study this the moment I’ve finished mucking about with changing themes … I found one that presents the widget images really nicely!
Thanks, timethief – and put that 6-iron back in your bag …

You can handle this and no I’m not joking when I say that.

Oh, you sound just like Mother Rosalie! Heh heh … She was forever telling me that I could do [something] in order to prevent my being a slob, and as lazy as buggery.
Hmm … Let us both hope you’re right, me old china plate.
    And THANK-YOU!
