Move domain
-
Hello,
I recently purchased a domain through WordPress. So mshouman.com would direct you to my blog (which is still under construction). I also used the domain to create a Google Apps account, so now I have e-mail addresses ending with “@mshouman.com.”
However, I’ve been giving it some thought, and I’m considering creating a non-blog site as my “main” page, with my WP blog being a “subdomain.” For instance, mshouman.com could take you to a static home page (say, a Google Site), which can link the WP through blog.mshouman.com.
My questions are as follows:
– How can I transition mshouman.com to go to the Google Sites page, and not the WP blog? Would I need to change the domain provider? If so, is that possible, or would I need to wait until the end of the domain purchase period?– Would switching mshouman.com to a Google Site affect how my e-mail accounts function?
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi. I think you need to as Google Sites what information to enter on WordPress.com (nameservers).
If you purchased the domain name less than 60 days ago, you cannot change registrars yet. That’s part of international regulations regarding domain names.

Hello there,
The ICANN information is found here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#transfer-to-another-registrar -
Dear Airodyssey and Timethief,
Thanks so much! That information is definitely helpful!
Would you know if the transfer (after sixty days) would lead me to losing my mshouman.com Google Apps accounts?
Airodyssey, I didn’t fully understand this remark: “I think you need to as Google Sites what information to enter on WordPress.com (nameservers).” Could you please elaborate?
Thank you again!

Sorry, another question:
If I were to delete the domain, would I still need sixty days to use it elsewhere?
Thanks!

Sorry, my comment should have read as follows: “I think you need to contact Google Sites, as they will tell you what information to enter on WordPress.com (which nameservers you need to enter under your Domain Management”:

If you delete the domain it takes a while to be released back into the wild – you then run the risk of someone else getting the domain.
Much better to keep the registration at WordPress.COM and get your site going – they are one of the cheapest registrars around and you then don’t loose control of your domain. You can transfer the domain to another registrar at some time in the future if you want.
If you keep the registration here then you can start your site at once and no need to wait for the name to get fixed or get lost.

It is not necessary to link from one question to another. We can find all the questions already. when someone has an answer, they’ll answer it.
