Move domain from current host to wordpress

    Hi,

I was wondering about the following.
    My company website is http://www.pvpr.nl.
The host is a Dutch company called je-eigen-domein.nl. I also use this host for my email.
Because I really like the wordpress functionalities and CMS tools I use for my blog http://www.checkmyhome.wordpress.com I was thinking of moving my domain http://www.pvpr.nl to wordpress or use the domain name on both hosts.

    A few questions:
    1. Can I also use my existing email (email visible only to moderators and staff) with the domain through wordpress?
    2. Can the two exist next to each other for a while or can I get a ‘site under construction’ page while working on it during the transfer
    3. How does it work if all this is possible?

I hope somebody can help me?
    Thanks!

If you search the forums and the support area, you’ll find the answers for all of your questions. Search for domain mapping and email.

I never recommend mapping a top-level domain to wordpress.com simply because you lose control over certain things. Instead, I suggest you map a subdomain – such as blog.pvpr.nl – to your wordpress.com blog. This allows you to keep you top-level domain for your company website and also allows the email to function just as you have set it up.
