Move domain to WordPress-blog

  How can I move a domainname to my wordpress-blog?
  I already have a the code from the other hosting company, but can’t find way to enter it.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there. To connect an existing domain to your WordPress.com blog you’ll need to change the name servers at your registrar and then buy the domain mapping upgrade here. You can’t move the domain itself to WordPress.com as WordPress.com doesn’t accept incoming domain transfers, so your domain itself will need to stay with your current registrar.   Thnx for the quick support!

  1.Add the domain by going to the Domains page and clicking “Map an Existing Domain”.
  2. (there is no pre-excisting e-mail service)
  3. If I enter “NS1.WORDPRESS.COM” I get the message;
  Sorry, WordPress.com domains can’t be added to a WordPress.com blog.
  So adding NS2.WORDPRESS.COM & NS3.WORDPRESS.COM isn’t possible, same as step 4 to finish this.

  Any advice?

  #3 you don’t do on the WordPress.com dashboard. You do that wherever you bought your custom domain/your domain registrar.

  What is the custom domain you’re trying to connect and where did you buy it?

  Custom domain is http://www.plattetube.nl
  I bought this a few years ago on yourhosing.nl

  I think I found a tutorial on this site

  I’ll give it a try!

  Nope, I’m not able to find the option/possibility to enter an existing domain.

  Those instructions are for installing a self-hosted WordPress.org website on your domain. That’s something completely different from mapping a WordPress.com blog. See here for the difference between the two platforms: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  If you actually do want to have a self-hosted site with yourhosting.nl, then you can follow those instructions, but then you’ll also need to post in the WordPress.org forums for further assistance, as we can’t help you with that here: http://wordpress.org/support/

  However, if you want to use the domain, http://www.plattetube.nl/ with your WordPress.COM site, http://snwcmp.wordpress.com/, then you need to ask yourhosting.nl to change your domain’s name servers to wordpress.com and buy the domain mapping upgrade as per the instructions I gave you earlier. You also won’t need a hosting account elsewhere as http://snwcmp.wordpress.com/ is already hosted by WordPress.com.

  I have two websites on WordPress.
  1- http://www.snwcmp.nl (incl hosting and domain)
  2- http://www.plattetube.wordpress.com (incl hosting without domain)
  So the domain ww.plattetube.nl has to leave Yourhosting and has to be connected at to http://www.plattetube.wordpress.com.

  So I’m gonna ask Yourhosting to change the domain’s name.

  You can’t move the domain itself to WP.com, as I indicated earlier, so you must either leave the domain with them or move it to someone else and then map it to WP.com

  So I’m gonna ask Yourhosting to change the domain’s name.

  Not the domain’s name, only the name servers. Then you buy the mapping upgrade for http://www.plattetube.wordpress.com/ and map http://www.plattetube.nl/ to that site.
