MOVE FROM SELF HOSTED TO FREE WORDPRESS

    Hey, I urgently need some help. I need to move my self hosted site back to the free wordpress. I am currently with host 1&1. How do I start the process of migrating back?

    Hi there! If your goal is to move from self-hosted to a free site on WordPress.com (without a paid plan) you will want to follow the instructions linked below.

    The gist of those instructions is to use the Export feature at your self-hosted site, and then use the Import feature here on the free site you create.

    Depending on how much information you are moving over, it could take minutes (if very little) or hours (if a lot) to move everything over.

    *Note: if you are using plugins and custom theme on your self-hosted site, those will not move over. To move those over as well would require the Business plan, which you didn’t specifically mention. If you change your mind, let us know.
