Move My Blog

    Hi. I wanted to confirm that I will be able to move my blog, if I so choose, to a non WordPress site — one that I may have designed independently by web site developer. Would there be any issues with that?

    We don’t know.

    That would depend on the blog you will be trying to import the data from here into. What wordpress is going to output is a XML/WXR file. If you have a blog built by hand, then whoever builds it will have to build an import program so that they can put everything into the proper places in the database on the new blog.

    They will have to have a very good knowledge of the inner workings of wordpress or at the very least a knowledge and experience with the wordpress export file.

    You need to tell the people creating this thing for you that they will have to be able to import a wordpress XML/WXR file PROPERLY when it is done. Make sure you have that in WRITING that they will be able to do that.
