Move my domain to WordPress.com
-
Hi! Hm, I actually did bought the domain name at WordPress.com, I payed €13,- for it.. What do you mean with ‘Larissa, I don’t think you bought the domain from WordPress.com, as .nl extension is not supported for registration. it could have been Strato OR Cronon.’? Do you mean that adventuresbylarissa.nl not available is, and I need to use .com? I don’t understand that because it would be unlogical.
Is it possible that I can call a dutch person from WordPress.com helpdesk so I can explain easier and that kind of things?

adventuresbylarissa.nl is not registered through WordPress.com, it is just mapped here. Domain Mapping is the upgrade you would purchase if you wanted to use a domain registered elsewhere (GoDaddy or 1and1 for example) with your WordPress.com site.
Domain Mapping is a $13/yr upgrade. Domain registration is between $18-50/yr. You can see the full list of available domains and pricing here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#available-domains
Please note that .nl domains are not available for registration on WordPress.com.

Please visit this website:

….and see what is written under “registrar”:
Registrar:
Cronon AG
Pascalstrasse 10

Okay, so I mapped my domainname for $13 and I actually can’t do anything with it? No one told me this before.. If I undo that Domain Mapping, can I get my money back then? And what happens if I undo that?
What do you recommend me now? I’m 14 years old, almost 15 and I do not have $13/yr and the money I have to pay for the registration.. I actually do not know what I need to do anymore..

Hi!
I got a new domain name, and I want to ‘Domain Mapping’ this, but if I wanna do this, they tell me it’s impossible to registar the Domain name. What to do? My new Domain Name will be: styledbylarissa.nl.

Okay, so you need to follow these instructions to point that domain to your WordPress.com site:

I already Domain Mapped the domain name. Do I have to change my NS records or is it ready to use now?

Yes, you need to change your nameservers at your domain registrar to point to WordPress.com.

Hi.
My domain name is activated and the NS records are changed. My domain registars (if that’s good English) changed them and http://www.adventuresbylarissa.wordpress.com (that’s my old name) changed automatically into http://www.styledbylarissa.com. But.. if I search http://www.styledbylarissa.nl, they say: ‘I’m sorry, there is something wrong with displaying the webpage. I asked my domain registars what to do, and they say the problem is about my Hosting at WordPress. They said I have to ask someone of you what the problem exactly is and if you can solve it.
Hope you can help me!

Larissa,
The only issue is, your domain registrar has not changed the name servers.
By mistake, they have actually set the MX records to WordPress.com servers:
https://cloudup.com/cZMbxV34zkQAsk them to just change the name servers (not only NS record). Currently, they are pointed to:
https://cloudup.com/cVj9On5n0PaYour domain will continue to have issues unless your registrar properly sets these up.

We change the nameservers, but can you explain to me why http://www.adventuresbylarissa.wordpress.com/ also does not work?
-
Yay, good news! The name server change has indeed gone through; styledbylarissa.nl is now pointed to your blog. DNS changes can take up to 72 hours to propagate all over the world, so maybe that was the issue yesterday.
can you explain to me why http://www.adventuresbylarissa.wordpress.com/ also does not work?
It wasn’t working because on the My Domains page, you had set the primary domain to styledbylarissa.nl. That’s why .wordpress.com subdomain was redirecting to .nl domain.
Hope that clears things up! :)
P.S. The blog is set to private, if you want to make it public, it can be done from Settings > General.

Aaah thank you so so so much! It works! So happy with that! Oh, and that was my fault then, I didn’t know that. But that doesn’t matter, my blog works! Thanks a lot! (:
