Move my WordPress Followers from .com to .org

  • Unknown's avatar

I recently migrated my blog content to my self-hosted wordpress.org site and would like you to move my followers/subscribers as well. I have JetPack installed on my .org site and have it connect with this .com blog and have moved all comments/content/posts over.

I will keep this .com site up for the time being, but would like to deactivate it once our followers/subscribers are migrated… as I will no longer be updating on this site and want to avoid confusion.

How can I make this happen? Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,
Staff can do this for you. I tagged this thread for their assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

I’d be happy to take care of this for you.

Please let me know what the WordPress.com address is with your current followers, and what the address is for your Jetpack-connected site where you’d like your followers moved.

P.S. What is the URL please?

    Thanks for the fast response!

    Our current .com site is:
    slobikelane.wordpress.com

    Our new .org site is:
    bikeslocounty.org (/blog)

    Hope this works!

I do not see the site bikeslocounty.org connected via Jetpack to your lesliebloom account on WordPress.com. Please make sure both sites are listed under the same WordPress.com account, and I’ll be happy to make this migration happen.

I’m moving it on behalf of my work (one of the reasons I’d like to move followers away from my personal ‘lesliebloom’ account)

It might be set-up through the ‘connectslocounty’ user ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) to our bikeslocounty.org/blog JetPack. I’m digging around our JetPack plug-in right now to find out which account this is linked with.

    Thanks for your help again!

Holy cow! My supervisor just sent me the actual log-in information!

(email visible only to moderators and staff) is our username for that account.

If you wish for the followers to be moved between blogs, both blogs must be connected to the same WordPress.com user account.

The easiest thing to do here might be to add your supervisor as an admin user to the WordPress.com blog, using the username they used for Jetpack, and then ask them to post in this thread from that same account to authorize the transfer.

    Thanks Jackie,

I think we’re all linked up here now.

(email visible only to moderators and staff) is an administrator on slobikelane.wordpress.com

Our website (bikeslocounty.org/slobikelane.org) blog is also linked with Jetpack to this account.

Hope this works to make the transfer happen! Thanks.

It looks like everything’s in order now. :)

I have transferred your WordPress.com subscribers and email followers as requested.

Please note that any WordPress.com followers who opted to receive email updates will need to re-subscribe again on your new site through the Jetpack signup box, otherwise they’ll only see new posts in their Reader. Non-WordPress.com email subscribers will continue to get email updates.

You might think about setting up a Site Redirect for your WordPress.com site at slobikelane.wordpress.com to send your site visitors to your new domain. Otherwise, people will still be able to subscribe on your old site.
