Move my WordPress site to Fasthost Hosting

  Hi there.

  So, i’m a complete techno bimbo but have, after mu effort, managed to build my wordpress site up to how i want it. I have hosting with Fasthosts and want to have my main domain http://www.fmfirstmonday.com as the main URL but wiht the look and feel i have created in wordpress.

  I am not sure how to make this happen – i’ve done oodles of research but have ground to a halt. Also, i’d like to be able to write new blogs on my wordpress site that will automatically update at fmfirstmonday.com

  Any and all help appreciated.

  Twenty ten, the theme you are using is the default on a wordpress.ORG installation, so you should be fine there.

  1. You have to get your web hosting account.

  2. You have to register a domain name and point it at the new web host (they will provide the DNS addresses for you to use).

  3. You have to install wordpress.ORG software at the new web host.

  4. You have to export your content and import it into the new host wordpress installation. This will not include any widget content or any customizations you have done here. Those will have to be transferred over by copy and paste or recreated at the new site.

  5. On self-hosted installations, you have to seek support at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that is where the software you will be using is supported.

  The backend of the wordpress.ORG software is very similar to what you have here, but you will NOT be using the dashboard here to do your blogging. You will be logging into and doing your blogging at the new .ORG installation. You will in no way be connected with wordpress.COM at that point.

  One other note: There are a lot of unique features and widgets here at wordpress.COM that will not be in your new installation. You will have to research and find plugins to duplicate any of those features here that you need on the new blog.
