Move new posts under the correct page
-
Hi,
I have been desperately trying to move posts under the selected pages but I don’t know how to do that.
I would like to have all the posts on main homepage but then I would like them also to go automatically under the correct page.
For example travel under the travel section.
Soccer under the Sport section and so on and so forth.
Is it maybe my theme that doesn’t allow me to do that?
I’m on a free theme at the moment.
Thank you allThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
It looks like you are creating pages that are linked to in the main menu.
I would suggest that you create categories instead, add the posts to the category and link to the category in the navigation instead.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/ for more information on categories and
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-category-pages
on how to add a category to a menu.Hope that helps!
Cheers! -
Among the most common misconceptions is that bloggers fail to understand is
(1) there is only one page we can post to in any blog and
(2) the static pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ they create do not automatically update. There are many common errors, misunderstandings and misconceptions when creating custom menus and you can read about them here. > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/12/19/custom-menus/

Well, if they want posts to show up under different URLs (as separate feeds) and want fine tuned control of this, they might be thinking about something that can be solved by using custom post types in the .org version of WordPress. They would post these from under a different section on their site (like how Pages and Posts have different sections). However, this is above and beyond the needs here.
The categories (as kraftbj explains) are the way to do something similar on WordPress.com and should be able to help create a Sports section. Just make sure each relevant post is in the Sports category.
It gets a fair amount more complicated once you start using custom post types and again, it’s probably not needed here. You can read more about that with this link:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Types
This is only something that can be set up on .org and not .com.
I’d say that saying “there is only one page we can post to in any blog” is not quite accurate, since the archive pages for Categories feel like separate pages to a lot of people. WordPress is actually generating another set of filtered posts to populate these category archives and most themes supply new header text to indicate what section the reader is in.

Another note is that once you’ve got your categories set up you may want to use a categories widget in addition to (or instead of) adding particular categories to your menu.
You can read about this widget here:

You are referring to a free hosted WordPress.COM blog and the only relevant support support documentation for free hosted WordPress.com blogs is at this link http://en.support.wordpress.comYou can create a custom menu and include exactly what you want in it while excluding what you don’t want from it.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/As I said above aong the most common misconceptions is that bloggers fail to understand is
(1) there is only one page we can post to in any blog and
(2) the static pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ they create do not automatically update.Only the dynamic pages like Categories, Tags and Archives created by the software when we publish a post we that we have assigned Categories and Tags too will update automatically update with posts.
By default the front page of the blog is the post that displays all posts in your blog. Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.
We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories pages into the custom menu.
