Move Pages to Posts (and vice versa)
-
I am using pages to show the latest versions of chapters of a book, and copying them to posts as an historical archive of how the book developed over time. It would be extremely useful if I could copy or move a page, with all of its comments, into a new post. (I guess it might be useful to do it the other way round for some folks too.)

You can; you just copy/paste. You can include the comments.
But have you read the FAQ on using WP.com to write a book?

I’m not sure what you mean when you say “you can include the comments”. I’m copying the text of the page and creating a post, then copying each comment and pasting it into a new comment on the new post. It’s all pretty fiddly.
The post you referred to does not address the issue of archiving old versions as a work is edited, but thanks for the suggestion.

Copy the entire thing, including the comments. And paste the whole thing in the Write box. It looks fine:
