Move posts to another part of the blog
-
Hello everyone, I’ve looking for this specific question but can’t find the answer, well here is the “problem” I have this blog http://utttam.wordpress.com/ it’s for homeworks and announcements from university, nothing great really, now the question is I want to create a new category called “First Semester” (I already did that) and move the older posts to this new category, and start creating new posts(because this is a new semester), so the old ones won’t appear on the main page, but I cant accomplish this, althought I’ve created the new category, and moved the posts to this category, they still appear on the main page… anyone? please?
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Categorizing posts doesn’t remove them from the main page; it only adds another page through which they can be accessed; the category page.

Thanks for answering raincoaster, but how can I remove the posts from the main page without erasing them?

You can’t. If you don’t want them on the main page, what you can do is set a static front page so that visitors can only access posts via categories.
