Move self hosted blog to wordpress.com

  I have a self hosted wordpress blog and would like to move this blog to wordpress.com. I know I can export/import the blogs content and that works fine. But how can I move the medias? After the import all images URLs still point to the old self hosted blog. Once I turn it off all medias will be lost.

  Are you importing to https://bennobaumgartner.wordpress.com/ ? As long as the original site is still online and you haven’t yet transferred your domain to WordPress.com then the images should be loaded during the import process.
  As I don’t see the promised modlook tag for staff I have added one now.

  Hey there,

  As themagicrobot mentioned, as long as the original site is online, not set to private, and the attachment links are available, the images should import to your new site just fine. Proceed with the import and let us know if you run into any issues.
