Move sub blog to it's own wordpress.com account. Keep blog address?

Because my comments link back to my main blog instead of the sub blog I am commenting from and there seems to be no answer for this I want to take my sub blog xxx.wordpress.com away from my main blog. To do that I can transfer it to it’s own wordpress account.

I cannot find an answer to this anywhere. I want to move a sub blog to it’s own wordpress.com account. How can I keep my sub blog’s url xxx.wordpress.com url when it is already taken? By ME, lol! If I set up a blog to receive it won’t wordpress block me from that?

I’m very discouraged and about to give up on WordPress because the sub blogs are so complicated. Please help me.

    Thanks so much…

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have been here for 6 years answering questions and I don’t know what you mean by “sub-blog”. What is a sub-blog? Please post an active link to it so I can determine exactly what you are referring to and what you need help with.

Are you referring to a “reserved blog?” When a WordPress.com username account is created the blog with the matching .wordpress.com name is reserved. It’s only possible to get a reserved .wordpress.com blog if you registered the matching WordPress.com username and you get it by requesting it from Staff. is that what you want to do? If so, then please provide the exact .wordpress.com URL in question.

Or are you referring to purchasing a domain name via a mapping upgrade? http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/
    http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/register-domain/

When mapping a domain to a free hosted WordPress.com blog there must be an underlying .wordpress.com blog URL to map from. But it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com blog URL is at all. No matter which URL is clicked the vistor will be seamlessly directed the domain URL and locate the content.

Thank you TimeThief. My term. When you make a blog, like my main blog at sensitivityroad.com, you can create other blogs under that same email address. “Make a new blog option.”

    So I created possiblyedible.wordpress.com.

Problem is when I comment from possiblyedible they show up as coming from sensitivityroad.com. I also had to find a theme for possiblyedible.wordpress.com that did not show the author as sensitivity road.

In other words, why does the first blog I made show up information and make links with my “sub blog” possiblyedible.wordpress.com?

More important, if I transfer possibly edible to it’s own wordpress.com account to alleviate these problems, how do I transfer to the same url? You know what I mean? Do I have to then host my possiblyedible.wordpress.com on a whole new name and url? Like possiblyedibleblog.wordpress.com? I do not want to lose my url.

Aha! now I understand what you mean. You have asingle username and your username is linked to your primary blog > Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> Account Details > ‘Primary Blog‘.

When we register a username account here the email address we provide becomes our unique identifier. When we are logged into WordPress.com and register blogs all the blogs we register are registered to that username account and email address. We can register as many blogs as we wish and provided we are using the same username account then all the blogs will be registered under it and the associated email account.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/

We can create a “nickname” or “display” name but it will appear on all blogs registered to the same username account. Also any blogs we accept invitations to necome users of will be added to that username account.

In order to completely separate the blogs that are not associated with each other you register another username account using a different email address when you are logged out of WordPress.com. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/ Then you add the new username account as an official user of the blog, and designate them (ie. you) as an Admin. http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/ Lastly you transfer one of the blogs to the new username account using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

Indubitably. As an added note, in case any other souls may read this…

For sensitivityroad, my primary blog, I should make other blogs with it of the same ilk. Like, “Five letter toxic chemical names for scrabble”. That would work.

I am ruminating lofty ideas for the children of possiblyedible.

Life is good again. Thank you!
