Move subscribers from wordpress.com > wordpress.org?
-
Hello,
I have just switched from WordPress.com to WordPress.org. I have manually moved my email subscribers over, but was wondering if I could move those who are following my blog through WordPress.com. Is this possible?
My WordPress.com blog is: http://glitterandgoatcheese.wordpress.com/

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The followers who are using the WordPress.com Reader as opposed to email subscribers cannot be moved.
-
The WordPress.com Reader only supports WordPress.com blogs, so those followers can’t be moved.
For those, I recommend just posting “we’ve moved” (etc) on the old blog.
As for moving the email subscribers, how did you do that? We don’t yet have a user-facing tool for that, but I can move them for you.

Ah! Gotcha – thanks so much!
I just copy-pasted all the email addresses from the CSV list in Site Stats into the Subscribers field in the Subscribe2 plug-in. Any advice on what the differences are between Subscribe2 and the Jetpack subscription widget? I didn’t know the Jetpack widget existed when I first installed Subscribe2! -
The two really aren’t that different, except for the fact that Jetpack emails are all sent from our server, which puts the burden of support on us, decreases the load on your server, and decreases the likelihood that you’d be seen as a spammer by automated software.
If you’d like to switch to Jetpack, I can transfer your followers over for you.

I have transferred your subscribers as requested.
Please let us know if you need any further assistance!

Wow. Thank you so much.
Now I just need to get everyone to “Follow” me over. Is it possible to put the WordPress “+follow” at the bottom of my new blog? -
You’re welcome!
Yes, it won’t necessarily be a button, but you can add a Follow Blog widget to your sidebar via Appearance -> Widgets in your blog’s Dashboard.
-
Macmanx – I can see that you transferred over all the emails, but when I published my first post on my new blog it didn’t send them emails. I have the list on my dashboard under Jetpack -> Site Stats but they were not sent an email. Did I miss something in the process of getting it activated?
Thank you -
Was Jetpack active when you published the post? Also, would you please check your email’s spam folder?
-
Yes, Jetpack was active. I checked with a few people and they did not get it even in their spam folder.
I sent out a test post and people received it. This was great! I chalked it up to the email subscriptions not having enough time to work their way through the wp “system”. So I re-posted my first post, but again it doesn’t seem to be going through. No one has gotten it yet.
I think what is going on is that I have set up two users in my blog. Admin and clavielle. It seems that the test post my Admin go through to folk’s email, but the posts by clavielle don’t. Are the emails subscriptions attached to the admin user only?
Thanks -

Hm, that is odd. Would you please try one more test post (with different content) as that user?
