Move subscribers to new site

    Hi, a friend who owns a wordpress hosted server has donated me a domain name. I’d like to move my old subscribers to the new site so they can keep seeing our posts. Help?

    hi,

    First decide on where you want to keep your domain.
    1) If you want to keep it at your friend’s registrar, you can map that domain to your site apiomancy.wordpress.com.

    To use your domain hosted elsewhere with your WordPress.com site, you will need to change the domain nameservers at your domain host, and point them to WordPress.com nameservers.
    Our nameservers are:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

    You will also need to purchase the mapping subscription upgrade via one of our paid plans so that you can map your domain over to your WordPress.com site.
    Do note that domain propagation can take up to 72 hours. If you continue to see your underlying wordpress.com URL after that time, try a hard refresh of your browser window and/or empty your browser cache and cookies.

    2) You can transfer the domain to WordPress.com
    Having domain registrar and hoster at the same provider makes things much simpler and cheaper, though, as you only have to pay one provider for renewals each year, and you only need to log in at one place to manage everything.

    If you’d like to transfer your domain to us completely, the cost for that is included in your plan, even with domain mapping already added, and the transfer will also renew your domain for an additional year.

    After you make the above decision, you can require a Staff to help move your subscribers to the new site.

    Hi apiomancy,

    I’d like to move my old subscribers to the new site so they can keep seeing our posts.

    Do you want to transfer these subscribers from apiomancy.wordpress.com? Also, can you send a link to the new site you wish to transfer them to?

    Just let me know and we can go from there.
