Hello there,
Happy to help you with this.
Can you tell me the URL of the self-hosted site please? Also, jus to check, are you looking to reset site stats?
Many thanks.

Thank you! The url of the self-hosted site is critiquesofacritic.com! I’m not sure what it means to reset site stats? I was just trying to find a way to track views for ages, and when I Googled for solutions I saw this forum and found a widget that would let me do so!

Hello there,
Ok, so to track views and traffic on self-hosted WordPress, a good start would be to use Google Analytics.
This plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-site-kit/ > connected automatically to the Google Analytics account.
I hope this helps.

No, the tracking code is what records visitors, so there would have been no way to record them before it was added by the plugin.

Apologies, I missed a key thing here, coffee is still kicking in.
That previous answer was for Google Analytics specifically.
If you install, activate, and connect the Jetpack plugin to the new site https://jetpack.com/support/getting-started-with-jetpack/ that will give you access to the same stats you know and love from WordPress.com: https://jetpack.com/support/wordpress-com-stats/
And, when that’s done, we can transfer the stats from your WordPress.com site to your new self-hosted site.

I have now encountered a new issue- initially, while trying to install jetpack, I encountered this error message “destination folder already exists”.
After some googling, I found forum threads/ help blogs recommending me to delete the ‘jetpack’ plugin folder manually from my site’s ‘wp-content/plugins’ folder, using an FTP program. I used filezilla to do so.After that, I managed to download jetpack, but while trying to activate it I got the “fatal error” bug :( I’ve tried to delete jetpack again to retry it, but now I’m stuck in a loop with it still not working and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to successfully add jetpack to my site. Is there any solution to this? Should I try manually adding the downloaded plugin via FTP instead of via the WordPress dashboard?

Hello there,
Ok, so to confirm, has the Jetpack folder been deleted from the directory?
If yes, you should be able install Jetpack from the plugin repository here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack/
Can you tell me if you’re able to download the .zip folder, and install via the dashboard?
Many thanks.

I have tried it out twice by manually uploading it, and it still gives me the same error. :(

Hi there!
Sorry to hear that. You may want to contact your hosting service provider for help as they can delete the Jetpack directory directly from your site via FTP. If you have access to FTP, you can delete the Jetpack directory by yourself too.
If that doesn’t help, please reach out to Jetpack support folks directly at this forum: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack
Once you’ve posted there, you’ll get help from the Jetpack support team directly.
