Moved my wordpress blog to my new domain – should I delete the wordpress.com?
-
Hi,
I moved my blog on wordpress.com to my own domain a few months back.
I’m not sure if I did it correctly (broken links, seo rankings, etc).Sometimes, when I attempt to reblog a post from another site, it reblogs on my old wordpress.com blogsite instead of my blog on my own domain.
Should I delete my blog on my wordpress.com site so there is no confusion between the two?
Here is the new site: http://www.TheOrganicDragon.com
The old is https://theorganicdragon.wordpress.com
In addition, after typing my http://www.TheOrganicDragon.com domain, the page loads with a “wordpress1” after the domain name.
Is this supposed to happen?
It would be nice to keep that from happening to enhance a more professional look.I’m using Google chrome on an imac to manage my sites.
Thanks for any help.

I would choose to set the wordpress.com blog visibility to private and periodically import content into it from the install. To change blog visibility to Private go to Dashboard > Settings > Reading scroll to Site Visibility and choose option 3
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/ Then I would have a backup blog full of my content that was not on the same servers as the content on my install. -
P.S.Making the .wordpress.com blog private means you will not have duplicate content issues with search engines like Bing and Google.

Hello there!
Sometimes, when I attempt to reblog a post from another site, it reblogs on my old wordpress.com blogsite instead of my blog on my own domain.
Unfortunately, reblogging posts is a feature available only for blogs on WordPress.com, and that could explain why your reblogs show up in your old blog.
Should I delete my blog on my wordpress.com site so there is no confusion between the two?
I would vote against that. Since you have a Site Redirect upgrade in place, your visitors will hardly notice that the old blog still exists.
In addition, after typing my http://www.TheOrganicDragon.com domain, the page loads with a “wordpress1” after the domain name.
It appears that your WordPress.org blog was installed inside a subfolder. The good news is it’s still possible to have your blog appear under your root domain. Please refer to this support page on how to achieve that:
Since this is the WordPress.com forums, it may best to post any further questions you may have about your WordPress.org blog here:

Thank you and best of luck!
