Moved to .org – How long to keep premium adress and blog
-
Hi everybody,
I have just moved my blog to wordpress.org. Before I was already using a custom URL which is a premium feature. Not even sure how much that is per year anymore.
My question however is, how long I should keep this service and when I shoudl cancel the blog alltogether?
Or should I just leave it because of my Jetpack plugin which apparently get info from my wordpress.com account?
Thanks a lot.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi escapology101,
You should be able to cancel your Premium upgrade now. By doing so, you’ll split the plan up into separate upgrades, which can then be cancelled individually.
What might be useful to you is the Site Redirect upgrade, which lets you redirect your WordPress.com site address to your new site. I’m not sure what else you might possibly need.

Hi there,
I checked again. I had site redirect upgrade in place which was already re-directing traffic since the start of my blog. I canceled that now becoming effective in October. That should be ok I think.
Question is now, is it recommended to at one point delete my wordpress.com blog or account altogether? Or should I just keep it sitting there?
Thanks for the help, Philipp

Phillipp, it depends on what you’d like to accomplish.
Instead of deleting your WordPress.com blog, you could consider making it private instead, as that’ll mean you get to keep your blog address in case you ever wish to return to WordPress.com.
Here’s a support article that shows you how you could make it private:
