Movies in Posts

Call this a dumb question, but I’m wondering how I can embed brief videos into my posts. These are going to be Quicktimes — brief, animated screen captures, designed to show how to use various features of the latest video editing applications. They’re pretty small, typically about 320×240 and about 1 to 10 MB. They look best in their original form — YouTube and the like tend to degrade them.
What’s the best way to make these part of a post?
Despite the recent notification that we can upgrade mov files, I got an error message when I tried to do so, saying that the file type isn’t supported.
I’d rather not make these files totally public. I prefer to have them seen in the blog where I can explain what they are about.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Quicktime videos can’t be embedded as such, as far as I know, for security reasons. The Upload Video thing is on hold at the moment as well, for technical reasons. You can embed YouTube, Grouper, Google Video, DailyMotion, Splashcast, LiveVideo, and PodTech videos, though. Perhaps you could convert it to one of those? I know the quality degrades with every transformation, but some are better than others.
