Moving a blog

If I move one wordpress.com blog to a second wordpress.com blog can I still use the first blog?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Anyone have any feedback on this one?
I have a blog (jayrapson.wordpress.com) and I’d like to move the content of that blog to a new wordpress site that I have (jayrapsonaz.wordpress.com) then re-brand the first site (jayrapson.wordpress.com).
My fear is that after I move the content I will be unable to re-brand the original site. Is the first site still an active site after the content is moved?
-
Yes. When you move content you create an XML export file and it’s a copy not the originals. See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-between-wordpress-com-blogs
-
To clear the content form the site you exported copies out of and continue to use the same URL following re-branding read what follows.
option 1
You can quickly remove your contents by deleting them in bulk.
bulk delete images & media http://en.support.wordpress.com/media/deleting-files/#bulk-deletion
bulk delete posts > http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/#bulk-edit
bulk delete pages > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/edit-pages-screen/#bulk-edit
Here’s how to permanently delete Trash >

If you have lots of content Staff can empty the whole blog for you. That will remove all data including posts, pages, tags, categories, comments, and uploaded files and once deleted, the data cannot be recovered. If you are sure you want Staff to proceed, then type modlook into the tags in the sidebar for Staff attention and post again to this thread to:
(1) confirm the URL of the blog you want them to empty;
(2) confirm that you know content deletion is irreversible.IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting blog content does not remove it from the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months.
-
Thank you the content came over but the stats did not. Is that usual? Do the stats not transfer?
-
I don’t know because I would never in a million years break links to my indexed content by moving it from blog to blog. I’ll tag this thread for a Staff response. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond.
-
Ahhh so the links won’t go either. I guess I should have realized that. I may not be moving anything then.
-
When you move content all the original URLs to it are broken. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/08/05/avoid-creating-404-pages/ It then takes about 3 – 4 months if there is a substantial amount of content for search engines to re-index all the content again under the new URLs. Then the activity at the new URLs will slowly push the search results re: the original URLs down in the SERPs (search engine page results).
