Hello,
I need some guidance. My wife has her blog and domain at godaddy. We would like to move it all to WordPress. What is the best way to do this? Can we move all here data over or merge it? Trying not to lose what she has already done. Also what is the best plan with you guys for a small blog.Thank you
Mike

Hi there,
Thank you for considering WordPress.com for your wife’s blog. I’m here to help guide you through this transition.
Firstly, let me reassure you: when migrating to WordPress.com, the process merely copies the content from the current platform to WordPress. This means nothing will be lost on GoDaddy, so you can proceed with peace of mind.
Migrating Your Blog’s Content:
- If your wife’s blog is built with WordPress on GoDaddy, the migration is straightforward. Follow our detailed guide here: https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-using-move-to-wordpress-com/
- If her blog is on GoDaddy’s Builder, no worries. We have a handy guide to assist with converting and migrating the content: https://wordpress.com/support/import/converting-an-html-site-to-wordpress/
Transferring the Domain:
After you’ve successfully migrated the content, the next step would be to transfer the domain. Here’s how you can do it: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/incoming-domain-transfer/. I’d recommend taking this step after the content has been successfully transferred.Choosing the Right Plan:
Given that this is a personal blog, I’d suggest starting with our Personal plan. Not only is it perfectly suited for personal blogs, but it also offers a free domain transfer, and we’ll even renew the domain for an additional year at no extra cost. Plus, if your needs evolve over time, you can easily upgrade to a higher tier plan and only pay the difference. We’re here for you every step of the way. If you have any more questions or need assistance during the process, don’t hesitate to ask.
