Moving a blog post from site A to B but still have it appear on site A
-
I want to move a blog post from WordPress website A to WordPress website B by copying it over and then redirecting from the old URL to the new one, however, I still want the blog to appear in the search results/on the blog page on website A and then when someone clicks it to read the full post they are taken to website B where the full post is.
Is this possible, and if so how can it be done?

Hi there,
Copying content from a site doesn’t delete it. The post would only be deleted from site A if you went to the Posts page or the editor and deliberately deleted that post.
So as long as you don’t delete the original, you should be fine.
As for whether or not the redirect will work while the post itself is still present on the site, that will depend on the redirect method/plugin you’re using to handle that. A redirect shouldn’t prevent the post from appearing on the blog page that I know of, though I’m not sure whether that might affect search results.
That said, you don’t appear to have any sites hosted with us on WordPress.com, but you do have several self-hosted WordPress sites connected via Jetpack. The open source version of WordPress you’re using on those sites is made by the community over on WordPress.org, so for more questions about this, it will be better to ask them over at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Hi Kokkieh,
Yes so the idea is to delete the post from WP website A and repost on WP website B, then add a redirect so anyone with the old link saved anywhere will be redirected to the new location of the blog post.
Ideally, we would keep the result showing on website A when someone searches for the topic, then when they click they are taken to site B.
Is this possible?

Hello there,

It’s possible to do this up to the redirect part. The redirect can be added via the use of a plugin, but that would require a business plan.
What are websites A and B exactly?
