Moving a blog to WordPress.com
-
I have a blog on blog.com. I want to move it to WordPress. How do I do it?

I want to move my entire blog from blog.com with the old posts to a new blog on WordPress.com. I’ve looked online, but can’t find any instructions for blog.com. Can anyone help?
Thanks!

Does it have an RSS feed or Export function? If you cannot create an XML file, you are going to have to do this by Copy/Paste. http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/ Read through the various options and see if Blog.com is similar to one of those.

Thanks, raincoaster. I can’t get the RSS feed to work. I’ve been having trouble logging in for several days–that’s why I’m moving my blog out–but when I can get in, I’ll try and import it. I did look at the link you sent and blog.com isn’t on that list.

I did finally manage to get in and export the blog into an XML file. I then tried to import the XML file into WordPress using the Blogger.com option since it allowed me to import a file from my computer. I got a message saying the system was importing the file, and then nothing. Not sure what I did wrong. I really want to avoid copying and pasting the items.

I’ll flag this for staff help. You might be able to email them the file and they can get it working.

Could you try one more time using the import from WordPress option?
If that doesn’t work I’ll send you a private e-mail so you can send me the file.
Thanks!

Thanks for replying! I’ll try the WordPress option tomorrow–the file is on my home computer and I’m at work–and let you know.
