Moving a domain from my Jetpack-enabled self-hosted site to my wp.com site
-
Let’s say I have a Jetpack-enabled site, let’s call it jetty.com, and a site on wp.com, let’s call it my.wp.com. I’d like my.wp.com to instead have the domain jetty.com (and so will be migrating my content over from jetty.com and getting rid of that self-hosted site).
After I transfer my domain over to wp.com, will I be able to change my.wp.com’s domain to jetty.com, and move all its subscribers over? (ie, the system won’t fry because jett.com USED to be a self-hosted Jetpack-enabled site, but has now become a wp.com site?)The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi cmljnelson,
In order to use a custom domain name (jetty.com) in lieu of my.wp.com, you require any of the upgraded plans.
https://wordpress.com/pricing/You can either transfer or map your existing domain to your WordPress.com account.

https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/And of course, it’s easy to migrate your content from your self-hosted website to your new WordPress.com website.

Hi there,
To add to @ravichahar’s reply, you will also be able to transfer your subscribers and statistics as well.
If you have any other questions, just let us know and we’ll be happy to help.

Ok great, so the fact that “jetty.com” was previously a site using JetPack, and will now be a wp.com site, isn’t a problem.
Thanks ravichahar and fstat! -
Since the software powering both sites (the Jetpack one and the WordPress.com one) is the same (WordPress) there isn’t going to be a problem. However, if your site is using third-party themes and plugins you’ll need to purchase the WordPress.com Business plans, as this is the only plan that allows those things.
