Moving a Jetpack-ed site?
-
I’m using WordPress to reimplement an existing site. During the transition, the site will be visible at http://www.originalsite.com/new/ (for those who know the URL). When the new site is ready for release, I plan to …
- export the demo site,
- replace the current site with a new, empty WordPress site, and
- import the demo content.
WordPress 3.3 offers to install JetPack, which seems like a good idea. But before I take this step, I’d like to understand how JetPack will impact my site release plans.

Hi there,
Have you visited the JetPack site? It’s here http://jetpack.me

I checked the Jetpack FAQ and Support pages and did several Google searches before posting my question. I found nothing relating to moving a site.

I’m not clear if you are referring to moving a free hosted WordPress.com blog to a WordPress.org install for self hosting or not. If so, see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org
However, if you are are referring to moving self hosted WordPress.org installs then you will have to post to http://wordpress.org/support/
WordPress.com vs WordPress.org -
I’m posting here because …
- I see this as a Jetpack issue.
- Jetpack has no user form.
- Jetpack is “by WordPress.com”.

Volunteers in the forum cannot help you. Staff are off until January 2nd, but at that point you can email support at wordpress dot com and ask them for help.

Ward, I went all the way to the bottom of http://jetpack.me/support/ and found this link for Jetpack support. Would you please use it?

When I returned to the Jetpack support page, this time I noticed link to the WordPress.org forum. Searching there turned up a number of unanswered questions similar to mine.
I’m going to take Andy Skelton’s advice from one short thread:
“you should not upgrade to the Jetpack plugin until after you have completed the move to another domain.”
