Moving a post from to a different page

    What’s up y’all. I’m Jason. I started this yesterday so just treat like a third grader til I learn something lol. I been wanting to do this for awhile so I’m excited. So I have a question I can’t seem to figure out. I have my homepage set up as static w my about me section. Then my “blog” is on a different page. But I also created a separate page to pictures and one for poetry. I did my first blog too, just said a quick hello. But all three I think anyway are one the blog page even tho they should be compartmentalize
    So…how I do move them? And how do I make sure when I make a post it ends up on the right page? Talk to my like i am a little slow cause…I am lmao. Thanks guys.

    Hi Jason,

    Welcome to WordPress :)

    It looks like you’ve set up your page called ‘Poetry’ to be your posts page.
    Basically, you can only have one ‘posts’ page, and that can either be your home page or another page. If you click on ‘Customize’ next to ‘Themes’ under the ‘My Site’ tab, you can then click on ‘Homepage Settings’ and select which page you want your posts to show up on here. It looks like you have done this already though as you mention.

    If you don’t want the blog posts showing up on the Poetry page, create a new page called Blog, and then select that page as the posts page from the Homepage Settings option in the theme customizer (Themes -> Customize).

    After this, all Blog Posts will show up on the designated page, and to edit the text on each page (for example ‘The Hour Between Wolf and Dog’), you would need to click on Site Pages and select the page from there.

    It looks like you’re figuring out as I type :) I see the blog page is now the ‘untitled’ page.

    It sounds like you might be interested in organizing your posts into categories and showing those categories in your menu. For example you can put all your poetry posts into a category called Poetry and then use your menu to link to the compilation of all the posts in that category. You can use other categories to further “compartmentalize” the posts on your site.
