moving a userid from "invite new" list to "all users" list in WP Admin
-
I invited a new user to my private blog, arfwe.org. The user accepted the invitation and accessed the website. However, the userid does not appear in the “all users” list in WP admin but shows a status of “accepted” under actions on the “invite new” list.
I waited approximately 12 hours, overnight, thinking it might take some time for the change to replicate across servers but I have yet to see a change.
Any advice?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there!
Could you tell me a) the name of the user, and b) the role which the new user should have?
Here are a list of user roles, if you’re not certain of the latter:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-rolesLooking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Hey thatRobyn,
There are two users involved, tolmiepeak and arfwetyoung. Both are being granted viewer roles. At this point changing user roles is not a concern. The problem (hope it’s not a feature) is that the two userids appear on the invite list even though they’ve accepted the invitation and logged into their wordpress accounts. I expected to see them listed under “all users”. It seems like accepting the invitation would trigger the move but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Let me know what you think. T.

Hello again!
Thanks for those details. That’s helpful.
Because you’ve added these folks as viewers, rather than contributing members of your site, you will actually find them in your Site Stats as followers:
https://arfweblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=stats&blog=76780706&blog_subscribers
Only Contributors, Authors, Editors, and Administrators will display in your user list.
I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

Hi thatRobyn, I’m mystified. the url you provided does not show either of the userids (tolmiepeak and arfwetyoung) I’m having problems with.
Prior to sending this email, I did some testing with tolmiepeak. I wanted to change the user role to author so I deleted the tolmiepeak invitation and sent a new one with the author role. From tolmiepeak’s gmail account, I accepted the invitation. Logging back in to wordpress with the admin account for arfwe.org, the tolmiepeak user still showed a pending invitation. Strangely, I can still log in to arfwe.org with the tolmiepeak user-id even though there’s no indication on the admin side that the user has access. I suspect this may be a server replication issue and I’ll try again tomorrow. So now I have another mystery but haven’t solved the original problem.
Regarding the original problem, the userid, arfwetyoung, still demonstrates the original problem. Wpadmin shows afwetyoung having accepted the invitation but doesn’t show the userid on the user list or on the URL you provided. hmmm…..
I’m sure this goes without saying, but feel free to examine the blog. It isn’t in production yet so we can do some testing.

Hi again!
Please take a look at this link:
https://arfweblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.phpYou should be able to see those users now. I’ve added them as Authors to your site. If you want to change their roles, you can do so. Here’s a breakdown of WordPress.com user roles:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles
That should do the trick! If I can help in any other way, please drop me a line. Cheers :)

so the missing link for me was the listing of viewers under settings/reading. I think (hope?) that explains what I saw last night.
Thanks for your help. I’ll be sure to be back in touch if I need help.
Best Regards,

Nope :) I added them for you. I’m not sure what went wrong with your invitations, but I adjusted them accordingly.
Please do be in touch, if you need help with anything else!
