How can I move an existing web site to a WordPress site? Is it as easy as copy and paste?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello,
I believe this information is what you’re looking for.

Hope that helps. ;)

Thanks Mariah,
Close but not quite there. I have a web site at web.com that I want to move to a cheaper host.
So I need to move a “regular” web site into a WordPress/DreamPress site.
Seems I need to pay for the DreamPress site in order to experiment with the transfer.
Best,

You’re welcome, Park.
Unfortunately, I don’t know much about moving a site over. I did a search on different import options and I’m not coming across web.com as an option. It seems it will likely be a copy and paste job.
I’m going to add the modlook tag so that someone from Staff can see this and assist. They will be able to provide a more straight forward answer for the both of us. Just be patient while waiting for someone to get back with you.
Best of luck!

Hi @parkseward, can you link to the site? I’ll look to see if I can recognize any import options.

Thanks @parkseward , it doesn’t seem to have an export options. Mariah is correct; it will need to be copied and pasted over, which is a bit of work, but certainly doable.
So, you can copy each page’s “main content” as a separate page here. I would also re-upload each image here, possibly as a featured image.
Then work on the layout, and finally decide how you want to put the front page together.

Best wishes with this! And I do recommend creating the individual pages first, uploading featured images to each one as needed, then working on the front page last. Might seem a bit backward, but since the front page mainly links to the rest of the site, it will help to have the rest of the site in place.
Let us know if you need more help!
