Moving a WordPress.com Registered Domain
-
Perhaps we’re totally dense. but neither myself nor the other guy working on our blog can figure out exactly how to transfer a domain that we purchased through WordPress.com to our new server at Bluehost.com. The domain is http://www.thebridgemma.com. Bluehost mentioned something about getting DNS servers to point to our new domain, but we cannot figure it out for the life of us. Could we get a gentle nudge in the correct direction (or let us know if it’s even possible)?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You change where the name servers are pointed – blue host should have given you the name server information you will need –
these instructions should help:

You have several options when moving out of WordPress.com.
As you mentioned, you can change the name servers to point to your new host. This means that your domain will remain registered with WordPress.com, but your blog will be hosted elsewhere.
Another option is to transfer the domain to your host’s registrar – if your host has one. This would mean that your domain and blog will both be managed in the same place.
However, a domain is locked from transferring in the 60 days after changes are made to it – if you recently registered or renewed it, you won’t be able to transfer it for 60 days.
Both of these options are available under domain management – see here for more information about that:
