Moving an existing url

    We have an existing URL (wheelercrestfire.org). The site needs to be redesigned mostly for ADA access, but for a few other reasons. I do not want to take down the old site until the new one is ready (which may take a while), nor do I want to import the old site and then try to modify it. How do you suggest I proceed.

    What I recommend is creating a new site on WordPress.com. You can build the site in the background, with your current site live. When you’re ready to launch the site, you can either connect or transfer your wheelercrestfire.org domain.

    It’s worth noting that a new annual plan purchase includes a one-year free domain registration. You can use this to transfer your domain to WordPress.com, extending its expiry by a year.
