Moving and need to suspend blog – not close

I will be moving, cross country, in a week and need to know if I can suspend my blog until I am set up at my new residence?? I don’t want to leave the blog open to all comments as it pretty much is now. At least one or two people have a tendency to take over, with extra long posts or posts that are off subject. When I’m able to catch some of it, that is fine, but if I’m not available that could be a major issue. So, is there a way to suspend or severely restrict comments until I’m available again??? Thank you for any help you can offer!!

Leave a sticky note at the top of your blog saying that comments are turned off temporarily until you are settled in and then turn commenting off for your entire blog by going to your Dashboard>Settings>Discussion>Default Article Settings and uncheck the box next to “Allow people to comment on the article”.
The existing comments won’t be deleted, they just won’t show on your blog and when you come back, reactivate commenting.

Let me make one suggestion, that you try it first before you need to do it.
I tried doing this on one of my secondary blogs, but the settings didn’t seem to “take”. :(

You also could password protect the blog by going into your settings
but probably would result in losing faithful readers..Or post a sticky and let them know that comments are now moderated
intill you can get back to your blog then that way they can still
leave comments and they be waiting for you when you get back…
[Comments won’t be posted to blog intill approved by you]2nd option edit eahc post and turn off comments
