Moving another blog to WordPress
-
I have had another blog on blogspot for years.
I love WordPress and would like to work from here instead.
But I’ve invested so much time on the other blog.Is there a way to move all the content from that other blog into the WordPress blog?
Thank you
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
Yes, you can export your content out of a Blogger (blogspot) blog and then import it into a wordpress.com blog. Please see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/See here and scroll down to “Exporting Your blog” http://www.google.com/support/blogger/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=97416
Before you do any of that I strongly suggest that you read this entry I link to below very carefully. Some things you can do on a Blogger blog and that can be done on a free standing self-hosted wordpress.ORG install, are not allowed on wordpress.COM blogs. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Hello,
I have followed the steps on both links above and today moved my blog from blogspot to WP. I imported all the posts and they are looking good here on WP but the permalinks have changed and now I have LOST all the hits that I used to get from my posts being featured elsewhere.
I’m not sure if I am making myself clear and so here’s an example- a search engine bring up this link http://bhaktitalreja.com/2011/01/isabelle-quehe-global-ethical-fashion.html for one of my famous posts and now this has changed here on WP and hence throws an error.
Any solution to this? I really will lose a lot of goodwill if all my posts keep throwing errors :(
Thanks in advance,

Along these lines, I have a very new blogspot account with less than 10 posts and less than 20 followers.
Is it worth it to try to transfer or should I just re-post on WordPress?
What would you recommend?
Thx!

What I would do… if I were in that same situation… I would probably re-post all of your ten posts on your new WordPress blog. I might even edit the dates that it would show you posted them to WordPress… as in re-posting them to WP… they would all show they were posted on the same day… today, tomorrow, or whatever. Since I have done that same thing… I went back, after posting them to WP, and changed the dates to the original dates I put them on Blogspot.
Or… if the posts would allow… I might post them as “new.” Your choice… depending on what suits your purpose.
Also… I would leave the blogspot account alone… but publish or post links in each post, and maybe write one more post… sharing that you have moved it to WordPress. 20 followers are 20 followers. After working to get them in the first place… I would try and keep them… hoping they would follow me over to WordPress.
Just my thoughts… your mileage may vary.

I’d re-post if I had that few posts. But that won’t help save your comments.
Definitely delete, make Private, or set as Draft your old blog. Search engines HATE duplicated content, and will downgrade you severely on both blogs that have the same material.
