Moving Away from Bluehost

Small busineess website was hosted on Bluehost but Bluehost got too expensive so want to build a new website on WordPress using the domain we own on one of WordPress’s packages.
Keep going round in circles though because I can’t seem to move everything back to WordPress. The hosting period has ended with Bluehost, so the website is currently under maintainence. WordPress keeps saying the domain is being used elsewhere, there doesn’t seem to be a way to disconnect from Bluehost.
Please help!! I just want to go back to simply having everything on wordpress.

Hi there!
Can you let us know the domain name that you’re having trouble with? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.
I should caution you that unless you have a full site backup (with database) from your Bluehost site, you won’t be able to import your site content if you only have the file created from the Tools > Export function in WordPress.
You may be able to pay for another month at Bluehost, then once we sort out the domain issue, you can use our new Move to WordPress.com plugin to move everything over to your new site here.
We’ll wait to hear back from you with that domain name!
