moving back from self-hosted

I started with wordpress and someone talked me into moving to Bluehost. I’m not using my blog as much but I don’t want to shut it down. How can I move back to simple wordpress without bluehost? I never left wordpress but I’m just not sure how to check and make sure I don’t lose everything. Thanks!

I guess I’m a little confused. Right now I’m hosted on wordpress through bluehost. I edit and login through wp-admin is this different? I’m not sure how to upload anything since it is already in wordpress.

Would I need to create something brand new or do I just cancel with bluehost and my wordpress things remain the same?

Can you let me know the site address you need help with?

    Thanks!

At this moment, you have WordPress instance on Bluehost and your domain is with Fast domain hosting.

WordPress.com is hosting provider where you already had your WordPress instance. You will need to recreate your site on WordPress.com and migrate it from Bluehost.

You can stay with the free plan within WordPress.com, but in that case, you will need to map your existing domain.
Here is how to use your domain on WordPress.com:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/using-your-bluehost-domain-on-wordpress-com/

I can see that your domain is valid until 2018-05-04 so it might be a good option for you.

After you map your domain, you will be able to import your site from the Bluehost. For details on export/import process, please check the link I posted in my first reply.

There are some awesome plans, and you can purchase one that will suit you in the best way. Check them here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Plans are import if you intend to install custom plugins or apply design customization.

One important note. Please do not cancel Bluehost until you have a complete setup of your site on WordPress.com

You can always leave a reply here and let us know on your progress.

Looks like with domain mapping you can no longer choose a free account. You have to choose premium, just an FYI

    Hi @kteter,
that is correct domain mappings need a Personal Plan at least.

If for now you just want to move your content to your Free blog, you can follow the Walkthrough indicated in the following URL:
    https://transferto.wordpress.com/

You will choose Self-Hosted WordPress.org from this page.

Basically you will export your Content and Media from your Bluehost WordPress install and then import it to your WordPress.com blog.

I suggest you make sure all content and media is properly moved before you shut down Blue host.

I hope this information helps you get started
