moving between two sites re Support

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m unable to work out how to ask you a question from the site I started up to use for trialling themes.
As nobody has responded to my Newsworthy list of questions – and there are more! – I think it might be because I found I’d been asking them from my real blog. Did my best to indicate which one the questions related to. Dunno if it worked.
Please! – HOW DO I PUT QUESTIONS TO YOU THAT ORIGINATE FROM
    mrtrials.wordpress.com
    rather than my main blog?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You select that blog from the drop-down menu when you fill out the form to ask a question here.

    Hi there,
It’s the weekend and as most Support Staff are in North America and enjoy working banker’s hours with weekdays off, support is thin on weekends. That’s not to say there aren’t always Staff in the backend because, most assuredly there are. http://en.support.wordpress.com/support-options/#support-hours

There is both Staff support and Volunteer support for CSS editing but that support is meant to supplement your CSS editing skills, not to replace them and not to do the work contracted code poets are hired by bloggers to do for them. There are a few Volunteers who help with CSS editing but once again they don’t necessarily have CSS upgrades and are working in test blogs in preview mode and once again they tend to be busy with family and friends on weekends.

Also note that Staff and the Volunteers helping with CSS will deal with threads in datestamp and time stamp order so as expected first posted threads will be first served threads.

If you prefer to hire professional help the Code Poet Directory lists Enterprise-level WordPress professionals, web designers, and developers. It’s brought to you by Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com and the largest operator of WordPress sites. http://directory.codepoet.com/

    @raincoaster
Thanks for posting. I clicked before refreshing and it sounds like I misunderstood what margaretrosestringer meant. Her Newsworthy threads are in the CSS Forum. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization

I must be thick (restrain yourself, timethief!): I don’t know what you mean, raincoaster. WHERE do I click? All I can find is the little gravatar on the right in the black bar above the blue WordPress.com bar that does indeed offer me both ‘personae’ – i.e., both blogs. Having thought this was the way to go, I tried it at the very beginning; but all that does it take me to the trial site! – it certainly doesn’t leave me here at Support but showing myself as … well, the other me!

Thank-you, timethief, for your input. I’ve said so many times before that I have no criticism to offer re length of time it takes for Support to respond that I foolishly thought I didn’t need to add it yet again to my above question.
I have done a very great deal of CSS work on my own site – with help from people like Pi – but he will tell you that much of it has been my own working out of where to go and what’s needed. The questions I’m left with are simply beyond my common sense levels.
As for paying (yet again!), please note that I live on the subsistence level of the age pension. I’m 70. No-one wants to give me a job – are you surprised? Were I able to afford to pay someone for professional input, I would in all probability offer to pay Pi, outside of this forum.
    Or anyone who was willing.
I’m not, and that’s the bottom line.

    re: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1
Did you find the “Pick a section” dropdown menu?

  • Unknown's avatar

I don’t understand your quoting that list: it has nothing to do with which of my two blogs ‘creators’ I’m being seen as by Support.
Have I not been clear for the umpteenth time? I shall try again …
One of my sites is margaretrosestringer and one is mrtrials.
I am unable to choose between these two for the purpose of asking questions of Support.
Can anyone explain to me how this is done, pleasre?

  • Unknown's avatar

    AH!!! – NOW I understand.
    Thank you very much indeed.

  • Unknown's avatar

You simply choose the site from the same form I referred to above at the very top where raincoaster stated there is a dropdown for every blog that is registered under the same username account.

If have another username account and you registered mrtrials.wordpress.com under then you log out of the
margaretrosestringer account, clear your browser cache and cookies, and log in under the username account that registered your other blog.

    Thank you very much indeed.

Hooray! You’ve got it now. :)

It’s depressingly amazing how easy I find it to simply not see something. The one good thing is that once the explanation has been fully comprehended, the same mistake will not be made again.
    There are many others to make, after all … :-}

  • Unknown's avatar

I make many mistakes and cannot claim that I don’t make the same ones over and over again because I do.
    C’est la vie
