Moving Blog from WordPress.com to WordPress.org

Hello- I’m attempting to import my blog from my wordpress.com site to wordpress.org, but only some of my posts and pages imported. Is there a way to fix this so everything moves over?

    Thanks,

  • Hi there,

If I can ask, what is prompting your move to a self-hosted WordPress site? It is possible to have the same capabilities here on WordPress.com as you would have on Bluehost (to upload plugins, themes, access source code via FTP, etc.) although it is not a option on free sites.

However, you can upgrade https://erinsbigexperimentorg.wordpress.com/ to our Business Plan, and that would give you the fully unlocked capabilities of WordPress, without the need to migrate.

Regarding your current issue, you are getting an error message of some kind when you try to import? You have confirmed the import is finished on your Bluhost site? Some imports can take a while especially if they include a lot of images and other media.

You can also re-try the import; anything that is already imported will be skipped so you do not get multiple copies, and this can be a way to import content that did not make it over in the first try for one reason or another.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
