  I currently have an up and running blog with Squarespace with a domain. I want to build my site on wordpress.org before obviously changing the domain as I don’t want the traffic coming to a unfinished site. Is there a way around this?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi tlfgsite!

  The best way to complete your WordPress.com site without traffic would be to mark it as Private. Once you have completed transferring your current site over, you can change the status to Public!

  Would this mean my Squarespace site will still be up and running until I switch?

  This is WordPress.COM support where we do not provide support for WordPress.ORG installs. WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.   I just want to clarify your plans as you mention both Squarespace and WordPress.org.

  Do you want to move the content from your WordPress.com site over to Squarespace or WordPress.org? Which domain would you like to use on your new site?
